Dementia care at home
The Alzheimer’s society estimates there are currently over 850,000 people living in the UK with dementia, 85% of which want to remain in their own home, yet only two thirds do so*
At Berkeley Home Health, we firmly believe that with the right care and support a person affected by dementia can still enjoy a fulfilled and happy life at home. We are advocates of quality dementia care ensuring that our team of carers are experts in the field.
Berkeley Home health – specialist dementia care
Dementia – from short term memory loss to Alzheimer’s disease, can cause feelings of confusion, anxiety and isolation. Moving out of one’s home to the new unfamiliar environment of a hospital or care home can be a traumatic experience.
Our tailored live-in care and visiting care service offers an alternative choice where your loved one can safely stay in their home - a familiar, comforting place that holds special memories, pets and cherished belongings.
We recognise the importance of a structured routine for someone living with dementia. It provides familiarity, a sense of security and comfort which helps to minimise distraction, memory loss and anxiety. Our compassionate dementia carers will follow pre-existing daily routines to ensure that care is implemented in a way that causes minimal disruption to normal life. We aim to allocate a small team of carers to return on a rotational basis. Familiar faces to prompt, reassure and encourage, to provide you with the peace of mind that your loved one is safe, and people you will both look forward to seeing again and again.
Our skilled carers are trained to recognise the challenges that someone with dementia faces on a daily basis. They receive specialist ongoing training to remain fully aware of how the condition presents, the different signs and symptoms and the importance of effective communication in helping an individual feel less isolated by the disease.
Whether you require help for a few hours daily, after some much needed respite care or need live-in dementia care on a long-term basis, Berkeley Home Health has a solution that can help enhance and enrich the life of someone living with dementia – enabling them to remain independently at home.
