Easy answer: of course! Age is not important; life experience is most welcome. What is important is that you are physically able to help our clients in their own homes.
Most of our clients are elderly and or vulnerable. They have chosen to receive care in their own home where they feel comfortable, rather than going into a care home or similar.
You may have had an entirely different career before. You may have some experience helping a loved one who needed care. The important thing is that you have a caring nature, that you can empathise with those you care for, and that you are willing to receive the professional training we offer.
Whether you are looking for just a few hours a week to supplement income, get out of the house, or just feel the rewards of helping others, talk to us about finding rotas to suit your lifestyle. Each of our Branches operates as individual local teams where the Branch Manager knows every carer, every client, and the local community. We’d love you to be part of it.
You might have retired fully or be semi-retired, it’s not a barrier to work for us. The important thing is that you can commit to working a set of agreed hours and that you are physically able to care for our clients in their own homes.
The most important thing is that you have great interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience – and of course that you really care about those you support. We’ll provide full training if you have never worked in care before.
We have found that some people who thought they were ready for retirement miss working after all but don’t want to do a full-time job. Some feel they still have a lot to give and want to make a real difference to other people. And some like to supplement their income. We are highly flexible. From a few hours per week to full-time work. You can work day shifts, evening shifts, weekends only, evenings only, and cover holidays – there are a lot of options.
We offer contracted hours, we offer permanent jobs and we offer guaranteed hours. Speak to your local Branch and they will discuss what will suit you best.
All our salaries are advertised next to each live job.
Most of our visiting carers need a driving licence and access to their own vehicle to be able to make the home visits. We pay for travel time, and we also pay 45p per mile.
Providing care for elderly and vulnerable people requires patience, kindness, and empathy but it sometimes also requires some physical effort. You may have to bend down to help tie shoelaces or help with hoists, or you may have to walk upstairs.
